Some movie players and  games randomly minimize
I use win 7 and I have an aggrivating problem. While I am watching movies on Net Flix, Hulu and also with PowerDVD 11 the screen will minimize to a smaller screen from the full screen. This happens randomly but will happen several times during a full length movie. Also when my kids are playing some games the game will minimize to the taskbar from full screen. I checked for spyware but found nothing. It never happens when we are just surfing with the IE 9 browser, (I only have IE9). I have another computer with win 7 on my home network and it has never done this. I also tried a complete reinstall from the factory image but it still continues to do this on this computer. This is a very new computer - about 5 months old but this really is a pain..... Any help, of course, will be greatly appreciated!

Hello atonalkeb, We are here to help you. The first thing you want to do is verify that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed, these can usually be downloaded from the website of the manufacturer of your graphics card. Also I did some research for you, and it seems this is a common issue for AVG 9.0. Since updating AVG seems to give problems, I suggest uninstalling AVG and installing Microsoft Security Essentials in stead; it is a free anti-virus tool from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials). I hope this information helped you out. With kind regards, Laurenz

Do you see any notifications on screen when the movie/game minimizes? Applications usually do this to get user's attention on some task or message. If you do see a message it means the application that shows this message is causing this. Temporarily disable your anti-virus software and see if the issue persists. If it still continues, I'd suggest you to do a clean boot and determine which application is causing this. Here's how to do a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 Please revert back here if this does not resolve your issue. Hope it helps! PS: As Laurenz mentioned, I'd recommend Microsoft Security Essentials over any other AV software anyday, just a tip! :)Kunal D Mehta - a Windows Server Enthusiast | I'm on facebook.com/serverbaba

Also thx for the tip on MSE I am going to re-install it to see if that helps as well. I will let you know how it turns out.

With kind regards, Laurenz Hello Laurenz and thank you for your suggestions. :) - However I use McAFee for my av software, and it has disabled MSE, and I have the ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series and the drivers are up to date. I do get the minimize on occasion when like McAFee auto updates but not everytime though. I do very much appreciate you doing some research for me, I too have done some to no avail though. :( Thank you again for taking the time to help! :) Brian
